Our commitment
House Medical is committed to a professional environment in which people are treated with dignity, can contribute their ideas and are judged fairly on their work. This applies to our team, applicants, clients, suppliers and other people we work with.
We oppose unlawful discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation. Respectful disagreement can improve an idea; personal hostility and exclusion undermine the working environment.
Fair access to opportunity
Our aim is to make recruitment, development and work opportunities accessible to people from a range of backgrounds. Decisions should be based on relevant skills, experience, potential and the needs of the role.
- Use clear, relevant requirements when describing work and opportunities.
- Consider how selection methods could disadvantage otherwise suitable people.
- Discuss reasonable adjustments so that disabled people can participate in recruitment and work.
- Support fair access to learning, feedback and progression.
Inclusive decisions and everyday conduct
We aim to give people a meaningful opportunity to contribute to decisions that affect their work. That includes listening to different perspectives, explaining the reasons for decisions and avoiding assumptions about someone’s circumstances.
Inclusive working also means considering meeting formats, communication needs and the time people need to prepare. We encourage clear language and respectful feedback, especially when people have different technical backgrounds.
Inclusion in the software we build
A person’s ability to complete a task should inform the design. Our design priorities include understandable language, clear instructions, keyboard access, readable content and useful feedback when something goes wrong.
Accessibility needs differ between products and users. We aim to identify those needs early and consider them throughout the work, alongside the relevant requirements for each product. We welcome feedback about barriers on this website.
Suppliers and collaboration
We are open to working with a broad range of suppliers and partners, including smaller businesses and organisations led by underrepresented groups. Selection should consider suitability, quality, fairness and the needs of the work.
We expect professional, respectful behaviour in our working relationships and value collaboration between people with different disciplines and experiences.
Raising a concern
If you experience or observe conduct that conflicts with this policy in your dealings with House Medical, contact us with enough information to understand the concern. Please avoid sending personal information about other people that is not needed.
Concerns should be considered fairly and sensitively. We oppose adverse treatment of anyone for raising a concern in good faith or helping to understand it.
